NOIDA, India – The tar roads seemed to be melting in a heatwave on an afternoon in May when Mrs Mamata Debi wanted to take it easy at work.

The 41-year-old leaned back in her parked electric rickshaw and considered giving in to a nap when a young woman sat down in the back seat.
